The Great Crossing
Vercors Massif
Often compared to a book made up of pages, chapters and volumes, life is, in my opinion, a great adventure without caesura filled with commas. As soon as we return from our hitchhiking journey across the European continent, the call of nature and these rocky peaks, these great silent plains is heard. The mind is bubbling, the physical body is moving. The Vercors massif stands out by itself. What could be more exciting than moving through the mountains in the rustling of the wind transcending this noisy world.
No means of communication. The connection must be complete and deep with this nature continually swept by the elements. Stripped of all superfluities, man presents himself humble before the earth. By the black dotted paths marked on my topographical map, I will reach the northernmost point of the massif to the southernmost point over 195 km and 15,000 meters of elevation. Eleven days of happiness spent alone contemplating this world, photographing it, surpassing oneself physically, depicting it in a notebook wrapped in a sleeping bag in the shelter of a tent or even in an unguarded refuge.
Beyond the side roads, I penetrate into this wild nature.
My steps become automated, my mind navigates in this sea of rocks.
